7 Things Every CSR Needs to Know
Customer Care should be part of everyone’s job description. But in every organization there are those people – the customer facing people – whose primary responsibility it is to take care of the customer. It’s to them I am speaking today, so be sure to make sure that everyone in your organization has a chance to read this tip. Here are 7 things that I think every customer service person needs to know...
Are you Earning Your Commission? Are You Giving Your Companies Justification for Cutting Your Commissions?
The title alone, I’m positive, has already caused a handful of agents to hyperventilate. If the reader is an independent agent and is not reviewing, or at least not offering to review, each renewal in detail, is not being an advocate for their clients, and is not working with all their clients to assess their exposures, then the client does not need to pay an agent 12%, 13%, or 15% commission. The agency is not earning their keep.
Young Agents Eager to Learn, Conquer
While every agency I speak with seems to struggle to hire new talent, here is an article from IA Magazine highlighting ten agents under 35. Focus on respondents’ favorite social media platform. Here’s a clue: It isn’t Facebook. Many agents focus on using Facebook and Facebook ads, but the well-crafted use of Instagram and TikTok can bring your agency customers in a new demographic.
Just this week an agent asked me, “What will the industry do in ten years when we (the older guard) are not around any longer?” With young agents like these highlighted, I think our industry will continue to thrive long after we’re retired.
5 Key PAP Eligibility Questions
When writing a PAP, the “risk” must meet specific eligibility guidelines. Five of these eligibility guidelines are discussed in this article.
How Should My Agency Handle Nonresponsive Separated/Divorced Individuals on a PAP?
An agent asks: I'm working on establishing a standard office procedure for our office when dealing w/ divorce and personal auto policies. At what point are we able to remove the other party? If the first named insured sends in a copy of the formal divorce decree, are we able to then proceed with removing the other party?
Drivers vs. Insureds
We find that often there is a misconception that listing someone as a driver on an auto policy automatically makes them an insured or that someone is not an insured because they are not listed as a driver. The reality is that the policy language is what governs and listing as a driver is more often an underwriting and rating tool. But there are exceptions…caveat emptor!
Changes to ISO’s Auto Dealer Coverage Form
Insurance Services Office (ISO) recently introduced several changes to its Auto Dealer Coverage Form (CA 00 25) with a November 2020 edition date and a proposed effective date of December 1, 2020. These changes are in response to changes in the business auto program, the general liability program and the dissolution of the garage program.
Should CGL and BAP Be Written in the Same Insurer?
One of the most common claim scenarios reported through the VU “Ask an Expert” service involves injury or damage arising from the loading or unloading of a vehicle or its operation as mobile equipment when the CGL and auto policies have been written with different carriers. This article provides four reasons why it may be advisable to place both policies with the same insurer.
Five BOP Gaps and Pitfalls Agents Should Watch
BOP policies are not “all that.” There are some gaps every agent must know and understand before settling on a BOP.
ISO’s New MicroBOP: Get Ready to Rumble in the Micro-Business Market
The economic disruption caused by COVID-19 has left millions of people unemployed—at what many say is the highest rate since the Great Depression. In considering the future, those who’ve lost their jobs may think about starting a home-based business as the crisis eases or perhaps working more independently. This could create an expansion of the micro-business market—businesses with few or no employees that often operate out of homes or shared spaces.
Does the ISO BOP Cover Undescribed Structures?
The ISO Commercial Property form, CP 00 10, requires that buildings and structures be described in order for coverage to attach. However, ISO’s Business Owner’s Policy only requires that the premises be described. So, as long as the “building” limit is adequate, that limit applies to all structures on the premises. However, that makes it critical that all structures and their values be considered in determining limits.
